Harvey Diamond at the Java Room

Every Saturday at 11:00 am, and again on the second Saturday of the month at 8:00 pm, legendary jazz pianist Harvey Diamond joins bassist Jon Dreyer for an unscripted musical conversation based on jazz standards and the Great American Songbook, what Warne Marsh called the spontaneous creation of beauty.

Harvey Diamond is one of the great unsung heroes of Boston jazz. He eschews self-promotion, focusing instead on the music. One of Lennie Tristano's last proteges, Harvey has that rare combination of technique, subtlety, intellect and heart that makes his music appeal to the least and most sophisticated listener alike, with a style in the tradition of Lennie, Bill Evans and Bud Powell. He has performed with NEA Jazz Masters Sheila Jordan and Art Farmer, and many others.

Bassist Jon Dreyer, a student of Harvey's, has become one of his closest collaborators. He also performs frequently with James Merenda and many of Boston's other top jazz musicians.

A Globe North Best Bet! At The Java Room, Ginger Ale Plaza, 14 Littleton Rd, Chelmsford MA. No cover. Please visit Jon's Web site for specific dates and other gigs.
